I was at that Golden Eagle one as well. It kicked off so bad that we ended up leaving and getting taxis to Fuggie's house in Dudley. There were about 12 of us. His mum was great and made breakfast for us all.
The next night was Coventry Poly.

Seasons in the Abyss - Slayer Agreed. Is there such a thing as a bad Slayer album? I don't think so. Saw the 'Clash of the Titans' tour when this album came out. Slayer, Megadeth, Testament and Suicidal Tendencies- a top night out. I get some funny looks off the locals driving through the Japanese ...

Levitation by Hawkwind I must have missed this post the first time around. Levitation is a great album, although I do prefer the live versions that are on the Lewisham Odeon gig that is included in the box set. I remember before a Play Dead gig at Sheffield Leadmill? where they were doing the sound...

You're right about the hot day. I remember waiting on the roof with a few people to avoid having to pay. It's probably 1983. I don't remember 1919 being so active before then. I saw them at Hammersmith Clarendon with a mate of mine and a lot of the crowd were making Killing Joke jokes. The band said...

It depends on the quality of disk. I have some Verbatim and Ritek ones that have lasted over ten years but some other such as Ricoh only last a couple. If you can transfer it, try and get it onto a Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim/Mitsubishi but check that the latter are made in japan and not Singapore or In...

The Chameleons were well known around Manchester and were played in a lot of the night clubs as they were from Chadderton (near Manchester), if I remember right. I think Beast did play. I can't remember Under Two Flags though. I seem to remember they had many problems with illness and maybe even a d...

I went to the second day and can remember them all except Holy Toy and Ground Zero. I remember Jayne County getting bottled off. Lavolta Lakota were a Southern Death Cult type band led by Dave Hicks. He lived round the corner from me in Hulme and was later in Revenge with Peter Hook. Bone Orchard at...

Was it Gene loves Jezebel supporting or was that The Lyceum? Skeletal Family according to the ad (plus Jerry Floyd, who I think was the resident Marquee DJ). The only Lyceum gig I remember the band doing was in support of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds. Also with Balaam and the Angel, if I remember ri...
