I'm in fairly regular touch with Roy (he's still in London whereas I moved to Devon from London years ago). We both moved to London in early 1987. Neither of us was into that Sisters/Mission goth thing - that's probably why we gave-up on the club scene in Manchester (that and not getting girls). I t...

@ Batman: yeah, we were (and I suppose still are) from Bramhall (Stockport) - Andy (me) and Roy. We later moved to London and shared a house with Mark Stopford (Manchester) - who you might also have known. We were regulars (as you were) at the 'alternative' club nights in Manchester: Berlin, Deville...

Hitching/Sleeping Rough

Saw PD at Retford once only. I actually got the bus from Sheffield - which took about an hour and a half but only cost 10p. The better days before deregulation. Why have a venue at all in Retford? It's a nowhere place stuck to the East Coast Main Line. But there used to be lots of these 'regular' ve...

The band's van had to do two trips to New Street I seem to remember. Don't know whether I went first or second but I'm sure I remember we all had to go through some kind of security segregation in the venue to get to the van. I remember many of us waiting on the roof area backstage. I also remember ...

Tin Can Aftermath

Hi Again Dave, The Dave I was thinking of was from Shrewsbury. However, he deffo wasn't at that gig at the Tin Can. Crazy isn't it, but I think I can picture your hat!! I only saw PD about 20 times - but we must have met. I stayed at Fuggy's a couple of times - once would have been after the Cult at...

What he said.....

Sorry about this - this probably won't help, but my name was (and indeed still is) Andy. I'm from Stockport/Manchester and I crashed at Fuggies that night too - as did my mate Roy - also from Stockport...Doddy was probably there too, although I'm not sure. I knew Batman (real name Malcolm Harris I t...

The Tube

Oh, no, they were the real deal - or at least mostly. I dare say that there were a few Newcastle goths, sub-goths and misc. freaks in there too. I didn't go (too far for a couple of songs), but I know that quite a few did.

Live on the Tube

Was watching 'Walk Away' on YouTube - trying to make people out in the crowd that I recognised. I could only identify Darren and Sue. Anyone on here see themselves or anyone they knew?!

Violence at gigs

Yeah, I saw New Model Army a few times and it often kicked off somehow. I remember at Keele University (when I were a lad don't you know) Slade cut 'Vengeance' short because certain members of the crowd thought it was a cue for a punch-up. Interesting bit of trivia: Play Dead and NMA absolutely hate...

Yes!

I was at that gig. Oxford College I think (not to be confused with the University). I think the idea was that as the band were from Banbury, nearby Oxford was kind of a hometown gig to record the album. This (I'm fairly) sure was the last time they played Propaganda live. It wasn't on the album thou...

First Post

Hello! This is my first post on this board. I might not have posted at all but I noticed one or two posts from people who used to go and see them back in the day and so thought I'd add my own memories. Hopefully not too dull. I remember a couple of the names that 'Staydead' mentioned in his post. He...
