They were awesome! I am so sorry I missed them when they played NYC at Danceteria in the early 80s. I too wish they had recorded more. They were the absolute soundtrack to my life in the early 80s. One of my favorite concerts was Love & Rockets at this tiny club on Long Island when they were supporting Express. I had to drive almost 3 hours through dense fog to get there, but it was amazing and in my top 5 of concerts. Lucy Show opened. I also saw Love & Rockets at the Beacon Theater in NYC with Jane's Addiction opening, which was a much different beast. That was in support of Earth, Sun Moon. I also saw L&R at a tiny club in Palo Alto in support of Resurrection. This was their farewell tour. Incidentally, I just picked up Burning from the Inside by Bauhaus and I can definitely see why Peter Murphy says it was the start of L&R.

Murph was ill, in hospital so he was away from most of the sessions for BFTI. He came out of hospital to a finished album, their worst IMO.
Having said that I had the pleasure of seeing the reformed Bauhaus in Glasgow at the start of the year. Awesome live band - miss at your peril!!!

The way I heard it from a reliable source Murphy was in the hospital prior to the recording of BFTI because of his drug use...I agree it is a little weak, but it does show them going in a different direction...
