A name engraved in an ageing stone but was he ever here
A man lost in the winds of time whose life was so unclear
What about his relatives I wondered if they cried
The only thing that we know for sure is that he must’ve died
Just a name upon a wall
Just a name upon a wall
I wondered if he had a wife or was he all alone?
I wondered if he made his mark or was he an unknown?
Whatever happened to his friends?
Another mystery
Or will we just have to write him down as lost to history?
Just a name upon a wall
Just a name upon a wall
So there he lays engraved in stone upon a peace of wall
There he stays until he fades and I hear his desperate call
His home for years has been this place a yard below the path
This is all that’s left of him his final epitaph
Just a name upon a wall
Just a name upon a wall
